Lets get juicing

Tuesday, June 16th, 2009

For those of you who were at the class last night, I hope that you were able to take something away from it, I had fun and I hope that you did too.  If I did not say it last night strong enough the main thing that I wanted to get across was that juice feasting will heal you.  Let me say that a different way, healing always and only comes from within, juice feasting will allow your body to heal.

The problem with the website is that it is not for the general public it is for someone who has been working at It for a while and has a good tolerance to juicing so this is my quick start guide to get you going and then we will send you to the juicefeasting.com website to do the rest.

  1.  Start Slow.  Instead of starting with 4 quarts a day and going cold turkey off of the solid foods, start with making yourself 1 quart each morning.  When you are comfortable with having juice for breakfast then move to having your evening meal be juice as well.  When that becomes comfortable set a date for your juice feasting kickoff and start.  Before you start make sure you take time to read through their website and so you will know what to expect, and how to do it.
  2. Start simple.  As far as health goes the greener the better.  The healthiest things to juice are the green leafy veggies like the kale and chards and greens.  The problem is that those are not always the tastiest ones, in fact they are great at bringing on the gag reflex.  Start with the more mild veggies like the cucumbers and the celery, green lettuces are also good.  By starting yummy and eventually adding in the good ones you will let you palate and your system become accustomed to them and will stick with your feast instead of quitting because it was just too yucky.
  3. Fruit.  When I first recommend a juice feast to my patients most of them say how they love juice or how they have a juicer and juice all the time.  The story quickly changes when I tell them that they are not to do fruits.  Fruit juices are great and have tons of health benefits; however they also have tons of sugar, and for our purposes of providing a healing experience for the body they will not do.  Fruit juices are fine in moderation after you have taken the time to do a feast and you have completely healed you body but before then they are just not a good idea.
  4. The exception to the fruit rule.  There are a few fruits that are ok; in fact they are great for making your juice taste much better.  The main one you will be using is granny smith apples.  They really help the veggie juice go down and they require the same enzymes to digest as the veggies so you will definitely learn to love the granny smiths.  Lemons are another exception.  Other things that we like are ginger and garlic, word of caution, a little goes a long way.

That is pretty much it. Get started. Get healthy and then tell your story and turn someone else onto health.

Gallbladder Flush

Thursday, June 11th, 2009

How many people would consider waiting to change the oil filter until their car has 80,000 miles? Yet the body’s main filter the liver goes on and on with less than optimal fuel entering the body, it tries not to complain but eventually its productivity and capabilities are decreased and our health is left to suffer.

How do you know if your liver is in need of a good overhaul? The easiest way to find out is to do a liver gallbladder flush. If you pass a bunch of stones, you needed it. Most of us will greatly benefit from the liver cleanse and will immediate feel the results. Some of the common bennifits are: Better digestion, improvement of aches and pains all over the body, decrease in seasonal allergies.Lets get down to the mechanics of the cleanse and what you can expect when doing it.

We will break it down into 4 steps:

1st. Kill the buggies. The liver is a common place to have parasites so step 1 is to do a parasite cleanse. An easy way to do that is to use a tincture of Wormwood and Black Walnut. Cloves are also a good place to start. There are numerous other parasite cleanses out there. Find one you like and let us know how it worked. Do two weeks of your parasite cleanse before you move on to the next step. If you skip this step it will not work.

2nd Good Juice. Apple juice has an important element in it (malic acid) that will soften the stones in your gall bladder. Two days before your cleanse start drinking apple juice, drink as much as you can. You can still eat other foods if you like but they need to be low fat low protein. Just to give you a heads up, you will experience half a day of diarrhea so I recommend starting your apple juice on a Friday, you will continue to drink it until 2:00 the next day at which point you stop eating. Expect diarrhea on the last day or Sunday morning. Not everyone has it but if you have a half way decent digestive system you will.

3rd Not just for bruises. Take 4 tablespoons of Epsom Salts and mix with 3 cups of water make sure to do it cold as it is much more tolerable. This concoction is not, I repeat not to be taken all at once. Your first dose is taken at 6:00pm the next dose at 8:00pm. Each dose is ¾ cup.
You save the other two doses for the following morning. The 3rd dose to be taken as soon as you wake up in the morning just not before 6:00am and the last dose to be taken two hours after that.

4th The yummy part. Use fresh squeezed grapefruit juice from 1 large grapefruit or lemon juice from 3 lemons. Mix with ½ cup of olive oil. If you use the lemons, which I prefer, then you must mix and immediately drink. The rush isn’t as important if you use the grapefruit juice. Drink the concoction at 9:45pm and then go right to bed lying on your back and don’t move. It helps to take some orthonine to help you sleep. Some people complain about this drink but I love it and crave it.

What to expect. Sunday morning you will have very watery stools from the Epsom salts. You will need to spend a little time examining your stool to check for stones. These stone are mainly green or light yellow and will typically float in the toilet. You will want to count them to see how many you pass and also notice the size and color. If you pass a lot of stones great, they are no longer in your body. If you do not have some watery bowl movements and you followed these directions, we have got some work to do. Plan on repeating this cleanse a minimum of 4 times in a row every two weeks continuing with the parasite cleanse. You may have to do it up to 12 times, just keep going until you stop passing stones.
